Lions player banned for dangerous tackle (ironic isn't it)

Scotsman Nathan Hines has been handed a week ban after his dangerous tackle on opposite number Wilhelm Steenkamp during yesterday’s midweek match against the Emerging Springboks (ending in a 13-13 draw).

While the tackle was not seen by the on-field referees it was flagged up last night during the IRB match review, Hines was handed his citing this morning by Commissioner Steve Hinds. This means that he will not be available for selection for the second test at Loftus on Saturday (not that he would have been in the mix). He has 24 hours to appeal the decision.
