Derby Time

It's that time of the year again when the greatest rivalry in Cape Town schools history is resumed. For more than a hundred years Rondebosch Boy's High School and Bishops (Diocesans College) have battled head to head for the pride of being the number one in Cape Town. No matter the rankings, no matter the previous results, this is the only game that matters.

After many years of domination by Rondebosch, Bishops have become almost unstoppable and Bosch wins are few and far between (which makes them so great). The Last game they won was back in 2004 where the visitors came from behind to win one of the most exciting and dramatic school boy games of all time (22-26) on the same field as the venue on Saturday. Both team have been strong this year, beating some formidable opponents from the generally superior Afrikaans skools. But as i said before that all comes to naught when the derby games come around.

This is the first fixture between the two teams this year and it is shaping to be cracker (hope the weather holds out). What i know for sure is that the support for both sides will be out of this world and the intensity of the game rivaling that of a test match. Watch out for the Bobo's and Fleck's of the future!

The game precedes the Springbok's first test against the lions, so if your anywhere in the world or in space and have an Internet connection there is no way you will want to miss these two epic clashes. See you on the field!

Altius et Latius!
